We are incredibly proud that our colleague Daniel Oppong was named Cleaning Operative of the Year at the Cleaning Industry Awards 2026.
While awards often recognise excellence in cleaning standards, Daniel’s win reflects something even more meaningful: the lasting impact one individual can have on the people around them.
Daniel transferred to CleanTEC in 2023 and has worked at our client, Ingram Micro, since 2015. Our management has always known him to be an exceptional member of the team, but when we asked Ingram Micro employees to share their thoughts as part of his award nomination, we were overwhelmed by the response.
A remarkable 33 colleagues took the time to submit testimonials, each sharing stories of Daniel’s professionalism, kindness and positivity. Together, they painted a picture of someone who has become an integral part of the workplace community.
Brightening Every Day
One of the strongest themes throughout the testimonials was Daniel’s infectious positivity.
Colleagues described him as someone who is always smiling, friendly and approachable, with one employee commenting that he has “the biggest smile you will ever see” and always helps people see the brighter side of life during stressful days.
Others described him simply as “inspirational” and “a joy to see each day,” highlighting the genuine difference his positive attitude makes to everyone around him.
Going Above and Beyond
Daniel’s willingness to help others was another recurring theme.
Colleagues highlighted his proactive approach, noting that no task is ever too much trouble for him and that he is always ready to step in whenever support is needed. Several employees commented that he seems to anticipate problems before they arise, often appearing exactly when help is required.
They also praised his exceptional work ethic, describing him as dependable, conscientious and committed to maintaining outstanding cleaning standards. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt throughout the workplace every day.
However, Daniel’s dedication extends far beyond his daily responsibilities. He takes genuine pride in ensuring the workplace is welcoming, safe and maintained to the highest possible standard for employees, visitors and customers.
More Than a Colleague
Perhaps what stood out most throughout the testimonials was Daniel’s compassion.
One colleague shared how Daniel had taken time to help her son with his language skills while he was working at the site, saying it was a kindness she would never forget.
Another explained that throughout her pregnancy, Daniel checked in with her every day to ask how she and her baby were doing. These small acts of thoughtfulness meant far more than he realised.
Many others spoke about how Daniel remembers everyone’s names, notices when colleagues have been away, and always makes time to ask how people are. It’s these everyday moments that make people feel genuinely valued.
As one employee summarised, Daniel is “like family” to the Ingram Micro team.
